MECTUNNEL was founded in 2009 by a team of passionate Civil and Mechanical Engineers who wanted to export the vast tunnelling expertise developed in Spain. Between 2002 and 2008, Spain became a hub for underground construction, with up to 30 Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) operating simultaneously across multiple infrastructure projects. This period was our training ground—a real-world university of mechanised tunnelling.
